Inside Our First Artist Collaboration: Jessica Hope Curran on the Hope and Montana Snow Anoraks
A conversation with the Montana-based painter behind our first artist-collaboration patterned snow gear drop.
When we set out to design our first artist collaboration snow apparel, we weren't looking for a pattern. We were looking for a feeling. Jessica Hope Curran -a Queens-born, Montana-based painter, brought us both. The result is two patterned anoraks, jackets, and a bib, in Hope and Montana: bold, organic, and unlike anything else in women's patterned snow gear right now.
We sat down with Jess to talk about glaciers, Big Mountain, fried chicken, and why she had to make a ski jacket.
You grew up in New York and ended up in Montana. How did those two worlds shape the way you create?
Queens is concrete, energy and colour everywhere, nothing subtle about it. Montana is pretty much the opposite in every capacity, but equally demanding for attention. The variety of energies, colour and light just forces me to paint.
I don't think people who don't create always understand that artists have to do it. It's a compulsion - they way many of us restore our nervous systems, especially right now.
Tell us about the Hope pattern. Where did it come from?
A glacier in September. The larches turning gold, skies that go on forever. The Hope pattern is what happens when those two worlds collide - the flow of water meeting the mark-making of a city kid. Bold and organic at the same time.
How did the collaboration come about?
When we moved back to Montana to take care of my Dad, I kept saying "I need to make a ski jacket." It was the only plan that made me feel like there was light at the end of the tunnel.
I found Maria's brand when a Delta influencer posted she couldn't find ski gear in her size, and someone replied "Nobody's Princess." I clicked her page and knew immediately I wanted to collaborate.

What does it mean to you when someone connects with your art?
It creates an immediate new friendship. They understand you. That's a connection I don't take lightly.
Jackets or bib - where do you land?
Our Hope Anorak is incredible - it's now my rain jacket in Portland and the 20K waterproofing keeps me completely dry. But I've genuinely slept in my Zali Bib, so that's my personal pick. They add so much warmth, the butt flap is genius, and as a card-carrying small bladder club member, I always avoided bibs. Problem solved.
Let's get to the important stuff. Snack of choice and ski fuel?
Chicken strips. Don't judge. Fried chicken is my love language. And coffee is my ski fuel, always.
Home mountain?
Big Mountain. Yes, some rich guy renamed it Whitefish Mountain - but I'm a local, so it's Biggie to me forever.
About the Hope and Montana Anoraks
Our Hope and Montana Anoraks are our take on a true women's snow anorak - built on our Sesi silhouette, available in sizes AU6-24 / US2-4X, and printed with Jess' original artwork. Same 20K waterproofing and breathability, same C0 PFAS-free finish, same 4-way stretch and gusseted construction as the rest of our outerwear range. Just with a glacier on it.
